Responsibilities

  •  Assists fetal scheduler in making new fetal referral appointments.
  • Reviews incoming fetal echo/consult requests and gives the time frame for the echo/consult appointment.
  • Helps accommodate “STAT” fetal consult/echo requests.
  • Develops a working relationship with families of fetal patients diagnosed with congenital heart disease.
  • Assists and follow ups with patient education of diagnosis and plan.
  • Facilitates referrals to neonatology, cardiovascular surgery, and other specialists as needed.
  • Gives tours of the hospital NICU and PICU during prenatal period.
  • Contact point for patients to call with questions as well as emotional support.
  • Improves communication with OB/Perinatology offices.
  • Assists cardiologist in explaining diagnosis and recommendations to OB.
  • Provides updates to OB regarding treatment and delivery recommendations.
  • Communicates with OB, fetal cardiologist and cardiologist(s) on service, and echo sonographers during the labor and delivery process.
  • Assess the concerns of each OB practice and communicates that back to the director of Fetal Cardiology program.
  • Assists in developing solutions to the OB practices’ concerns.
  • Contact point person for cardiovascular surgeons, neonatologists, OB’s and other specialists calling into the practice.
  • Assists in the creation and maintenance of a fetal database.
  • Assists with expanding the referral base.
  • Meets with the parents during post-natal period and answers questions.
  • Assists Electrophysiology Nurse Practioner in the Single Ventricle Home Monitoring Program.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations and Company policy.
  • Presents a positive, professional appearance and convey a professional demeanor in the performance of assigned duties.
  • Responsible for following all facility, organization and department precautions and procedures in the performance of all job duties to ensure a safe work environment for self and others.
  • Completes compliance requirements as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

Education Level: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.

Experience Years: A minimum of five years experience in pediatric cardiology nursing. 

Experience Industry: Healthcare.

 

Possess and maintain a state RN license. 

Must maintain CPR Certification.

 

Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience will be considered.
