Responsibilities

This role will report to Sr. Director, Clinical Solutions and will work closely with product, design, DevOps, and clinical operations teams to guide the development of patient-centric solutions including clinical platforms, integrations, and low-code applications.

 

The Sr. Manager, Hospital Solutions will lead a cross-functional team of full stack developers—including Python, front-end, back-end, and OutSystems engineers—focused on delivering secure, scalable, and innovative healthcare applications. This leader will oversee architecture, delivery, team development, and ensure alignment with regulatory standards such as HIPAA and HITRUST.

Leadership & Strategy

  • Provide technical and people leadership for a team of full stack and OutSystems developers.
  • Drive execution of healthcare software products from concept to production.
  • Define and uphold coding standards, architecture principles, and best practices.
  • Translate business requirements into well-architected technical solutions.
  • Align team goals with strategic objectives and compliance mandates.

People Management

  • Hire, onboard, coach, and mentor senior and mid-level engineers.
  • Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development plans.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-accountability team culture.

Technical Oversight

  • Guide the design and implementation of scalable backend services (Python, FastAPI), modern frontends (React, NextJS), and native web components (LitElement).
  • Oversee database architecture, schema validation (Pydantic), and ORMs (SQLModel, SQLAlchemy).
  • Direct infrastructure practices (CI/CD, cloud deployments, containerization with Docker/K8s).
  • Review and refine testing strategy (unit, integration, E2E) using pytest, Playwright, and mocking frameworks (MagicMock/polyfactory).

Low-Code Platform Management

  • Provide technical and architectural guidance for OutSystems projects.
  • Ensure adherence to OutSystems development best practices, performance tuning, and integrations (APIs, external DBs, auth layers).
  • Coordinate cross-team delivery with traditional and low-code developers.

Healthcare & Security Compliance

  • Champion secure software development practices, including DevSecOps integration and threat modeling.
  • Ensure all systems are compliant with HIPAA, HITRUST, and data privacy regulations.
  • Guide integration of FHIR, HL7, and healthcare interoperability standards.

Qualifications

Education/Experience: 

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in computer science, information systems or related technical field
  • OutSystems Professional or Tech Lead certification required. 
  • Professional Scrum Master preferred. 

  • 10+ years in software development, with 5+ years in engineering management or lead roles.
  • Experience managing hybrid development teams (traditional + low-code).
  • Experience with multi-tenant SaaS and cloud-native architecture (AWS/Azure).

 

Skills/Knowledge/Software

  • Hands-on experience with OutSystems, including Service Studio, Integration Studio, Lifetime and solution design
  • Development technology stack (C# / .NET Core, ASP.NET, Azure, SQL Server, ReactJS, Python, JavaScript, Azure).
  • Working knowledge of healthcare technologies, EHRs, and PHI data handling.
  • Familiarity with SMART on FHIR, OAuth2/SAML, RBAC/ABAC models.
  • Strong background in testing strategies and automation.
