Responsibilities

The Field Services Senior Engineer is responsible for leading technical initiatives associated with Healthcare Field Remote Offices located throughout the United States.  This will include leading office relocations, equipment re-fresh projects, and IT closet modernizing.  Partners with market leadership and other IT departments to ensure successful planning and execution of assigned projects.  Provide leadership and training of junior staff members to grow them into more advanced roles which will ultimately make the team stronger.  Collaborating with healthcare professionals in becoming a trusted advisor and IT liaison.  Performs onsite implementation of hardware and software solutions, site documentation, staff training and preventative maintenance to ensure IT services deliver their intended value.  Communicate with a wide variety of audiences that is clear and concise and deliver white glove level service to the locations.

  • Carry out routine maintenance, emergency repairs, installations, and training as well as general support in a professional, prompt and efficient manner to ensure total customer satisfaction.
  • Setup monitoring of remote infrastructure so that the organization has a better overall picture of what is causing downtime and ways to avoid downtime in the future.
  • Ability to work on a wide range of hardware from routers, switches, servers, user endpoints, printers, scanners, VOIP phones, wireless access points, battery backups.
  • Manage and monitor support interactions, serving as an internal advocate for assigned portfolio of practices, responding to customer escalations effectively and professionally, and proactively escalating when needed.
  • Meet regularly with assigned practice leadership, both remotely and on-site, to review support interactions, system status, major issues, upcoming releases, and other pertinent items.
  • Procure, install, configure, provision, and troubleshoot hardware, software, licensing, and peripherals.
  • Perform and drive on-site preventive maintenance programs.
  • Document ticket information in detail, communicate status, and follow-up on all tickets in a timely manner.
  • Provide updated site documentation as new equipment is installed at locations.
  • Modernize IDF IT Closets with updated hardware as needed, performing rack cleanups as needed.
  • Follow company policy on e-waste and make sure locations are not storing e-waste causing clutter in the locations.
  • Collaborate with other IT departments on troubleshooting more complex issues as needed.
  • Plan and execute office re-locations which includes structured cable drop layout that a cable vendor will use as a blueprint for network drops, plan equipment placement with office staff, procure new equipment to have in time for the relocation. Provide onsite move support so that locations do not have loss of patient days.
  • Share knowledge with junior staff members to help build a stronger team.
  • Ability to work remotely with minimal supervision and deliver successful projects.
  • Works under limited supervision and problems are moderately complex.
  • Responsible for providing coaching, guidance, and training to others in the job area.
  • Makes improvements of processes, systems, or products to enhance performance of the department.
  • Works on problems typically involving consideration of multiple issues, job areas or specialties.
  • May manage projects, requiring responsibility for the delegation of work and the review of others’ work product.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • 6+ years’ experience in the end user compute space
  • Experience with application upgrades, security patching, and platform updates 
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Operating Systems for desktops and servers.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to set up a healthcare office from network drop layout, equipment layout, move execution, and equipment installation.
  • Strong understanding of core network technologies, routing, VPN’s, LAN/WAN/WLAN.
  • Understanding of hardware and software dependencies 
  • The ability to translate business requirements to technical requirements 
  • Strong team player who can work across multiple functional areas and disciplines with attention to detail.
  • Understanding of healthcare business policies and procedures specifically when it comes to security standards for IT.

Additional Requirements:

  • Requires travel 50% nationally.
  • May require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 60lbs
  • Physical demands with activity or condition may include walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, standing, squatting, and stooping.
